Theology: The Basics is a short introduction to Christian theology, which was developed to meet the needs of students and teachers who wanted a shorter account of theology than that provided in the comprehensive Christian Theology: An Introduction. This work was developed to give a good account of the main themes of Christian theology without extended reflection on the history of theology, or its sources and methods. The work consists of ten chapters, each dealing with a major theme of Christian theology – such as faith, salvation, the Trinity, and the church. This work proved very successful, and is now in its fourth edition. Although it is being used widely in seminaries and universities, it has been adopted by many churches as the core textbook for study groups on the Creeds or the basics of Christian faith.

Although the work is very accessible, many have valued using a set of videos introducing the book as a whole and each of its individual chapters – especially if they are using this book for private study. Further video and audio resources are being developed to help users of this textbook, and these will be posted on this site as and when they are ready.

But in the meantime, you will find this YouTube playlist really helpful. It consists of eleven short videos. The first explains how the book works as a whole, and the next ten presentations talk you through each of its ten chapters. People find this very helpful!
